It works!

Finished an all-nighter (and all-dayer after 3 hours of sleep) but got my paper in to the prof today. The room works great. It's inspiring. And when I have to work, it's the place I want to be.

Week 4: Using the space

I'm happy. My floor and desk are littered with books and other things. The easel beside the computer props up my 'bathtub' research notebook so I can rewrite scribbles to my computer. About a dozen books sprawl to my right, within easy reach for reference and re-reading. On the floor under the computer, there's a chair pad, unearthed when W tidied his office this week. A kneeling strip under my desk elevates my soles to fit the task chair. I move the strip to the icons and candles to elevate my soul as I kneel for morning meditation. My hot wax spa and two boot baggies are nearby, plugged in once or twice a week to warm cold feet when I wake at night. Luxury. I've emptied the white file boxes under the desk - not sure what my plans are for them. The paper boxes holding the old files (from a previous attempt to find a dissertation topic) will be stashed in another room. Someone came by for the pink office chair that gave me back cramps. Gone! Home at last

We're back from the conference. Our papers were well-received with warm comments from those who know us. My prof also wrote back that he enjoyed the paper (same one) and closed out the grade with an A. Yay. And while we were in Minneapolis, my two advisers confirmed the new direction of the dissertation and gave me great ideas for moving forward. When I walked into my office, it felt peaceful and ready for work. This morning, stacks of books lie on the long desk surfaces, opened for action. The tall cup of tea is at hand. My little easel holds the transcriptions I have to put into the next paper. I even cleaned the fishbowls. Ready or not! Here we go.

Week 3: Consider the possibilities

"Consider the possibility" - one of L's catch phrases. We've sorted two rooms into support and office. We've labeled the one next door "Repose" (as in, a place to re-position = rest, refresh, and recollect myself before heading back into the office). The office is the Flow to Progress, and allows me to move (flit) around as I work. My office walls have more specific direction after today's session. To the right of the door where I first head into the room: Essence - Authenticity; Theme - Tracking; Anchor - Lists, mirror; Statement - "Where am I in the process of what needs to be accomplished?"; Need - Self-honesty; Felling - Centered. Across the room, where I usually head second: Essence - Openness/ Respectful Consideration; Theme - Sorting information; Anchor - Questions; Statement - "How does this enhance or diminish the question?"; Need - Contribution; Feeling - Energized And where I will consolidate into a paper: Esse...
