Day 6, Lent 2024: Life in the lowlands

The gap between earth and heaven seems great. I live in the lowlands rather than on the heights most days.

How did Jesus - fully divine and fully human - reconcile the chores and rhythms of daily life with the grand purpose of bringing salvation to humanity?

Maybe Isaiah's counsel is part of the secret:

"Seek the LORD while he may be foundcall upon him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake his wayand the unrighteous man his thoughtslet him return to the LORD, that he may have compassion on himand to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

"For my thoughts are not your thoughtsneither are your ways my ways, declares the LORDFor as the heavens are higher than the earthso are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." (Isaiah 55:6-9)

Challenge: What if I accept that I'm finite and limited? What would have to change if I decided to lay aside the noisiness of my own plans for the stillness of living in God's purposes like Jesus did?
