Day 27: Coming near
"Jesus left there. He walked along the Sea of Galilee. Then he went up on a mountainside and sat down.
"Large crowds came to him. They brought blind people and those who could not walk. They also brought disabled people, those who could not speak, and many others. They laid them at his feet, and he healed them." Matthew 15:29-30
Jesus did the work of his heavenly Father. Miracles. Healing people. Feeding people. He did all kinds of good things.
But to receive the blessings, you had to come to Jesus. To be near him. You usually couldn't just hang out and say, "Well, whatever. If he comes my way, maybe I'll check it out." You couldn't just plunk yourself in a chair and wait for help.
You went to where he was - or put yourself in the street where you knew he would be walking by.
What are you expecting from God or praying for? Are you walking closely enough to him, speaking with him, and obeying him in what you already know to do - so that he can bless you?
If not, why not? What shifts do you need to come near to Jesus today?
