Lent Day 25: Luke's account begins - the birth of Christ

Today, we start Luke's account of the life of Jesus with Luke 1-2. The chapters are long, but interesting.

Luke was a physician who traveled with the Apostle Paul as he told the story of Jesus around the Mediterranean. Luke would have met many eyewitnesses to the life, death, and resurrection of Christ.

Luke wrote 2 books: Luke and Acts - to his esteemed friend Theopholis, who had questions about the authenticity and effect of Jesus and his followers. Enjoy the account over the next weeks, from someone who was a good observer of people and understood the holistic ministry of Jesus.

As you read or watch the videos (below), ask yourself these questions:
What is familiar to you about the birth of Jesus, which Christians celebrate at Christmas (December)?
What takes you by surprise? (How is the story different than what your culture celebrates?)
Imagine what it would have been like to be part of the story. Who would you have been? (Mary, Joseph, hotelier, shepherds, bystanders, or ...?)

Luke 1:1-4
Luke 1:4-25
Luke 1:26-56
Luke 1:47-80

Luke 2: 1-21
Luke 2:22-40
Luke 2:41-52
