Lent Days 20 and 21: Love and music
All the Levitical singers,
Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun,
their sons and kinsmen,
arrayed in fine linen,
with cymbals, harps, and lyres,
stood east of the altar with 120 priests
who were trumpeters;
and it was the duty of the trumpeters and singers
to make themselves heard in unison
in praise and thanksgiving to the Lord,
and when the song was raised,
with trumpets and cymbals and
other musical instruments,
in praise to the Lord,
“For he is good;
for his steadfast love endures forever,”
the house, the house of the Lord,
was filled with a cloud,
so that the priests could not stand to minister
because of the cloud,
or the glory of the Lord
filled the house of God.
2 Chronicles 5:12-14 ESV
The last few days have been filled with music (the piano is getting warmed up) and with love: my husband joined me 2 days ago after nearly a month apart.
In scripture, love and music go together. When people's hearts overflow with gladness in the comfort (and awe) of God's love, they sang songs and played instruments.
What is your heart singing today? Is it full of worship and adoration to God? Full of thankfulness for his provisions and his help in times of trouble?
If you've been muted recently, meditate on God's goodness; it may make you overflow with praise, right?
