Lent Day 9: Infinitely Good

Praise the Lord, my soul;
all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
Praise the Lord, my soul,
and forget not all his benefits—
who forgives all your sins
    and heals all your diseases,
who redeems your life from the pit
and crowns you with love and compassion,
who satisfies your desires with good things
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
Psalm 103:1-5

Resigned to his unexpected Goodness
We say, "She's a good woman," or "He's a good man." By which we mean ... what?

Perhaps she does good deeds. Or he has a consistently wholesome character. She may fit her job well. And he may be a generous person.

But Good? Really Good so that there is "no shadow of turning" or that 'when we are faithless, he remains faithful because he cannot deny himself" - that kind of Good? No person measures up completely.

Except God himself. He never changes. He never gives up on us. He steadily draws us into his own nature = perfect Goodness.

As an expression of Goodness, he satisfies our desires with good things.

This week, I crossed paths with a nice piano for a friend. One of my spiritual gifts is being a conduit for stuff, ideas, and motivation. Here came the piano, as per her request.

The ease of It made me wonder if I'd like to have a piano downstairs. I have a piano degree but I rarely play. I'm a private "practice-er;" I've always disliked solo work. Of course, I avoid disturbing the napping grandkids by playing upstairs.

I thought, "I'm so happy for my friend," but after we settled that we would pick up the piano, she can't take it after all.

Yet because the desires and the fulfilment of desires come from the Lord, I'm fine if she changes her mind.

If not, "Where oh where shall I put it?" God is GOOD.
